For Schools & Districts

Five self-paced courses, built from problems in a working classroom rather than from research about classrooms. Every course opens its first lesson free, so you can send it to your staff before you spend anything and let them judge it for themselves.

Why this is different from the PD you have bought before

I still teach. Biology and anatomy and physiology, to college students across the United States. Every course here started as something that was not working in my own classes: students who would not ask questions, lessons that collapsed when a schedule shifted, assessments that measured recall and called it thinking.

That matters for one practical reason. Your teachers can tell. PD written by people who left the classroom assumes a class that behaves and a calendar that holds. This does not.

What a department or district gets

Five courses, 18 lessons each, roughly 6 to 8 hours per course. Self paced, no expiry, and no cohort to schedule around.

  • Curiosity as a Skill — why “be curious” is bad advice, and the moves that build it
  • Science Is a Way of Thinking — evidence evaluation, model revision, productive failure
  • Designing Lessons That Won’t Collapse Under Pressure — lessons that survive a disrupted schedule
  • Assessments That Actually Measure Thinking — scenario items, distractor craft, and what tests really measure
  • The Anti-Burnout Kit — burnout as a workload problem, not a character flaw

Certificates for PD records. Every completion generates a printable certificate with the teacher’s name, course title, completion date and contact hours, suitable for submission for professional development credit.

Buying for a group

SeatsPrice per teacher
1$79
2 to 19$20
20 to 49$15
50 or more$10

Group pricing starts at two seats. A department of two pays the same per teacher as a department of nineteen.

We accept purchase orders. Send a purchase order to professorcacademy@gmail.com and we will invoice your business office.

Purchase orders are covered by the same terms as our published Refund Policy.

A W-9 is available on request.

In person and virtual sessions

Keynotes, conference sessions, in service days, department workshops, and virtual sessions, adapted to the audience. A high school science department and a university lecture hall need different versions of the same talk.

Topics: the cost of scientific illiteracy, curiosity as a teachable skill, science as a way of thinking, assessments that measure thinking, and why teacher burnout is structural.

Fees. In service days are $500 per day plus travel expenses. Multi day engagements run between $500 and $1,500 depending on how many days you need.

I have spoken at graduation ceremonies, in university lecture halls, and once on the radio.

Questions administrators ask

Can we try it before committing?
Yes. The first lesson of every course is free to read. No signup, no card, no trial clock. Send it to a teacher whose judgement you trust.

Do teachers get PD credit?
Each completion produces a printable certificate showing contact hours, suitable for submission to your district or state for professional development credit.

How long does a course take?
6 to 8 hours, self paced. Most departments run one course across a semester rather than in a single day.

Can we buy one course for the whole department?
Yes. See the group pricing above, or email for a quote.

What if it is not a fit?
Purchase orders are covered by the same terms as our published Refund Policy.

Start with a lesson, not a purchase order

Read the first lesson of any course. If it is not better than the last PD your staff sat through, you have lost fifteen minutes.
